What is the difference between coated and non-coated material?
The differences are the following:
Coated materials do not react with surrounding environment and get oxidized.
Coated materials have a higher corrosion resistance.
Coatings might be permanent(electroplating) or, temporary(paint) but they all give protection from environmental corrosion.
Coated materials have a inert coating most of the time, while uncoated ones don’t.
Coated materials exhibit a higher resistance to wear than uncoated ones.
Coated materials are in many cases harder that uncoated materials if the coating is a hard coating.
